Elephant in Addo National Park, South Africa

This past week was world elephant day on August 12 and oh boy do I love elephants! I was so fortunate to spend four months traveling across East Africa this past winter and got the chance to see a lot of different elephant herds. Their massive wrinkly bodies intrigued me.

Africa offers some out of this world national parks to view wildlife in. We spent a month traveling on our own in South Africa and spent almost all of that time camping in national parks. So often visitors looking to go to parks in South Africa think mostly of Kruger, but there are so many other parks! One of them being Addo Elephant National Park.

I am so pleased to say I wrote a guest post for The Planet D and it was accepted for world elephant day! So you if you are looking for some information on the world’s largest mammal, or another park (besides Kruger!) in South Africa to visit, or just want to look at some photos of big animals, please check out this post I wrote:

Thank you! I was so happy to share it on the Planet D. There are just so many cool things about elephants! I might have to do another post because we have so many more pictures. 🙂

  • What caught my attention was the comment about seeing elephant knees from the car!
That must have been awesome. I a glad you and so many others see them in the wild and not in a circus. I am glad that is falling by the way side. Elephant sanctuary and rescue are wonderful for these gentle giants.

Your telling me! Seeing a knee (!) walk right by our car, that really put it in perspective. It was so nice to see these animals living in their parks.
