4 Reasons Beautiful Lembang Indonesia should be on your Trip

Prior to going to Indonesia I had little idea of what to expect of this island country. Green hills and blue waters were the main images that came to mind and they proved not to disappoint. Indonesia is an inviting and gorgeous country to visit. The political, geographical and economic center of the Indonesian archipelago is Java with the capital of Jarkarta.

With an area of almost 2 million square kilometers, this is a place to visit multiple times. Worth spending some time in and nestled at the foothills of the Tang Kuban Perahu volcano is the pleasant town of Lembang. With it’s laid back vibe the area offers a great destination to unwind from the hustle and bustle and enjoy some cool activities.

Here are 4 Unique Things to do in Lembang:

Bosscha Observatory

The Bosshca Observatory is the oldest astrological observatory in Indonesia. Set on a hilly backdrop, in the 1920’s the Dutch Indies Astrological society determined it was necessary to study the sky and of all the locations in Indonesia, Lembang was chosen. The architecture itself is unique and with its elevated location gives way to nice photo opportunities. This option also provides a kid friendly activity.

Maribaya Forest Walk

Indonesia is just beautiful. Up in the hills, this five kilometer walk can get your heart pumping. Walking along the conifer lined river valley its possible to enjoy a number of waterfalls and some caves. From the days of Dutch and Japanese occupations visitors can check out Gua Japang (Japanese Cave) and Gua Belanda (Dutch Cave). Once used as part of hydroelectricity generation, they are more like tunnels now, but still something to see along the way.

The Floating Market

With a wide range of traditional food, the floating market makes for a great place to have dinner at least once. Other activities such as the mini train ride and small boat rentals make this a fun place for families to visit. With a pleasant ambiance, reasonable prices and a unique dining experience the floating markets can help create a memorable evening.

Visit Farmhouse Bandung

With hobbit houses to explore and grass roofs, the Farmhouse Bandung has been picking up momentum in attracting guests. Inspired by Colmar, France architecture, visitors are able to wander past European style buildings. Costumes are even available to rent for those really wanting to get into the spirit and time period. An impressive wooden building is actually home to a multitude of rabbits which guests can feed. Each entry also includes a glass of cultured milk so be sure to get yours on the way out.

After filling your days with cool travel activities, there is nothing better than having a nice place to stay at. Recently we stayed at a place with an amazing pool which was so nice and something I look for in a review more often now. For that reason Lembang Asri Resort caught my attention. I would book now so I could start day dreaming about relaxing in those gorgeous looking pools! There is no better way to unwind after a busy day so you can be ready to go again the next day.

To date we’ve spent a total of two months visiting different areas of Indonesia. With a warm and welcoming culture complimented with a variety of different adventure activities, it is a place I like more and more each time I visit. If you are passing through Southeast Asia I hope you get a chance to stop by and check out all it’s cultural and natural wonders.

Tell me about it! 😉 So many things to do Indonesia! A great option is to take the train there from Jakarta. If going on the weekend, best to book in advance as seats do sell out. Should take a couple hours so it’s a nice next stopping destination when looking to get out of the city. Let me know if/when you go! 🙂
