Carstens Project: Why Caring for Parks Matters

Hello there! As you are reading this, we are somewhere in Africa. We already have thousands of photos and I have about ten posts in que. But we just have not had a lot of internet time. To make it worse, we’ve had good internet, but put all our items in the hotel safe only to realize later that the only person with the key left for the day so we couldn’t get our laptops out to finish projects. The reception was 24 hours and no one ever told us we couldn’t be able to access our things after 5 pm.

So in the mean time, here is an awesome reminder of how our actions affect those around us. This article entitled,  Caring for Parks, Caring for Nature, was inspired from our nine year old nephew Carsten.

Here’s Carsten really excited about his project.

This story reminded me of how the simplest of actions can create a ripple effect.

What Carsten wrote above a photo of us was, “Caring for parks.” He could have choose hundreds of different words or phrases, but he chose those three. And those three words spoke so loudly to me because I realized how powerful we all are as adults in influencing the young (and old) by our actions.

I hope you enjoy this weeks post: Caring for Parks, Caring for Nature

P.S. – I’d like to point out the ‘black crappie’ fish Carsten found and drew. To this day he still giggles whenever he talks about it.

  • You’ve obviously made a good impression on Carsten! Very nice article and a pleasant reminder.

    • I was just so excited when he could finally show us his project. It just made my day and you can bet that will be hanging big and proud on the door to our room!

Crappies are the funniest of all fish to his defense. Cod do a lot batter than that!

    • Oh that black crappie fish – it was too funny! Can’t imagine what he will find the next time.

All I can say is, tears are running down my face I am laughing so hard! 🙂

  • Carsten should win first place in your site for best facial expressions ever. I wish that there were more photos of him.

We certainly can affect those around us by our words and actions and even more so, our reactions. You never know what people pick up and learn from others. From a simple friendly hello while pumping gas to living a life of protectingthe environment.

    • Tell me about it – best face expressions ever!!! Pure awesomeness. I am constantly in awe from the influences I receive from other people.

  • The good of going into the mountains is that life is reconsidered. Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Crappie Care” according to Carston……just beautiful!
