Working on the Road – we’re the Travel Couple!

Greetings everyone! This week we have an exciting announcement that has been in the works for a long time.

Last spring, as I put on mud boots to cross an icy river simply to take the compost out for our Inn Keeping job, I was also furiously adding and re-adding two years worth of our budgets. For almost the past ten years I have kept meticulous details of all the money we spend in any given year. Finally this tedious task paid off as we were able to be the travel couple chosen to be in Nora Dunn’s new book, Working on the Road. Oh boy!

The Unconventional Guide to Full-Time Freedom

What is Working on the Road about? It’s about learning of all the creative ways to work on the road and be location independent. Chris and I consider ourselves professional travelers because for over the last ten years we have:

  • eliminated all our debt
  • consistently grown our savings and investments
  • moved abroad to immerse ourselves living and working in several countries
  • we can take advantage of higher paying jobs to work anywhere in the world
  • independently traveled throughout non-English speaking countries
  • have figured out how to hand wash our own clothes
  • can eat anything with a spoon
  • mastered the art of hand gestures and stick figure drawings when all other communication has failed

How do we consistently work seven months and take five months (or longer) off every year? What kind of life style do the others in the book share that enables them the freedom to live as they wish? Even if you’re not looking to fly over oceans and move abroad, do you want to find creative ways to adjust your working life to allow yourself more flexibility? Or are you just curious to see what we and the other people in the book spent in 2011 and 2012? Well, then check out Working on the Road.

  • Nothing better than going to the experts for expert advice! Congratulations!!!!

    • There’s so much good info in there. As each style of traveler has their own niche, it’s always great to collaborate together and learn from each other as well. We were very pleased to be selected to be a part of this book. 🙂

    • Ah, thanks so much Martha! That means a lot. I remember starting the “In the Print” tab on this site and there were only a few links, yet slowly but surely accomplishments are building. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this lovely comment. See you in April!!! 🙂

  • I am delighted for Tiff and Chris with this “milestone” they have achieved. I also know I can always tease Tiff with our families adventures of “all roads lead to Howard” no matter how far their “seven roads” (continents) may take them. See ya in April……

    • Oh yes, one of the funnest things of travel is to go home, get your pictures out and say, wow, I was there! I always find some comfort making trips back to the place all this wanderlust began. 🙂
