Max The Most Amazingly Funny Fur Baby Ever
For awhile now I have been wanting to create a post that was nothing but pictures of Max, one of the most amazingly funny fur baby that I have ever known. I wanted to do a full day photo shoot with his hair in different styles, create a clip of his bath process, create a movie of my sister Laura and him playing on the bathroom floor at night before bed and in essence capture all Max’s whimsical expressions.
Recently we had a family gathering at a casino, yes, a casino. Not perhaps the most conventional meeting spot for a mini family reunion, however it was the half way point and provided an indoor space to lounge together and play the slots. As we’re eating lunch and catching up with each others lives, when it came time for Laura and me to share, we start beaming like kids in a candy store and our voices rose in excitement as we went off on endless Max and Orange Kitty stories. (Orange Kitty is this cat that lives on the street and him and Max have become best friends and they hang out all the time and we all love Orange Kitty now too.)
As Laura and I continue laughing and telling story after story about Max, seven perplexed adults starred back at us thinking to themselves, “OK, they’re gonna stop soon and change subject.” At first they kept a polite interest in the stories followed by shear amazement wondering how long we could actually keep talking about a dog and orange cat. Meanwhile each of our husbands quietly sat there starring emphatically at each other as they have heard these tales dozens of times.
Convinced that I couldn’t possibly justify an entire post just about Max, that thought in and of itself caused me to stop. What is so special about this dog, your dog, our pets in general that makes them so unique, wonderful and part of the family? And why shouldn’t I have an entire post with pictures of Max? I thought about all the people I know whose pet’s are an integral part of their lives with pictures hanging on the fridge and the bonds that form between humans and animals.
I thought of all the books with titles to the effect of, “What Dogs Teach Us” or “Animal Wisdom” and pondered the existence of animals in our lives. Animals are amazing creatures that become a part of our life and change us whether we realize it or not. And then I realized I don’t really know why. They just do. I tend not to fall prey to heated debates about which life to value more: human, animal or plant. I don’t see the point. We’re all interconnected, we’re all living organism of some sort, destined to fulfill a certain role in this world and in essence I view and treat all three with same mentality: the way I would want to be treated.
Max came into my sisters life a scared, flea ridden, scrawny, disgusting pile of matted hair dog. He was dropped off at a neighbors house next to my parents. Both the neighbor and my mom were unable to keep another dog and my sister and her husband had been looking for just the right dog for years. The neighbors felt so moved by this little dog they offered to help my mom pay half the vet bill to get him fixed, wormed and checked up.
Our life has not been the same since this funny fur baby Max and it’s hard to remember a time before he came into our lives. Whatever your own experiences may be with animals, our pets are our pets and there will ever be only one Max. Without further ado please allow me to introduce you:
Finally she does and I am so excited I run all around. Then I settle down and she rubs my belly.
I do whatever my Master wants. If she wants to twirl my hair, I say ‘ok.’
If Masters sick and sleeping on the couch, I’m sleeping on the couch too.
If Master is sad, I am sad too.
I have my special Buffalo Bills shirt when it’s football season.
As Master and No. 2 (No. 2 is Tiff-she looks and sounds just like Master and I like her a lot) started getting ideas when they were outfitting me for Buffalo Bills games.
As long as I am with my Master, I am content.
Max is just the cutest little dog ever! All the names of people in his life include: Master, No. 2, Biscuit Feeder, Other Guy, Crazy Treat Lady, and Big Scary Man.
It is true that animals will unexpectedly come into your life and change it for the better. The bond that people can create with animals is so strong and so sacred. Once you let a pet into your life, he/she will never want to leave.
Our nicknames really stuck and when I wanted to reference Paul, I stopped saying for example, “You and Paul,” and it became “You and biscuit feeder.” It was quite a fun time.
Looks like that little critter couldn’t have found a better home (except maybe the CRAZY dress-up)…
I can’t say we normally do that, some days Max was just so funny and we couldn’t help ourselves.
I’ve petted that dog, given him treats, been overall nice to him and STILL he doesn’t like me! I was told that he really doesn’t like ANY of the men in his life. Apparently he’s a good judge of character.
Max speaking here,
“Oh Big Scary Man, I just so scared of you. You gonna have to feed me A LOT of treats, and only from the couch. It will probably take me a couple of years and about five million biscuits before I remember not to be afraid.”
