Where to Stay in San Jose Costa Rica that is Sparkling Clean & Convenient
Back in 2010 we had an awesome six week road trip throughout Costa Rica. This time we were back with a mission: to revisit Corcovado National Park. We were wondering where to stay San Jose Costa Rica this time. We were looking for a quick and convenient accommodation to get us rested and on our way. I don’t think we could have had a better find than Hotel Roble Urbano.
Ask any traveler and almost everyone will say something they appreciate is a good place to stay. We were a guest of Hotel Roble Urbano and loved our stay. Here’s our pick of:
Where to Stay in San Jose Costa Rica
The Staff
People often ask the places we visit. While talking about hiking up to calderas or other cool things, it is really the people we meet along the way that make a trip. Starting a trip into Costa Rica and meeting Laura, Allen and Bolt was an awesome way to begin. Hotel Roble Urbano is family run business. Their dedication and desire to run a place that stands out above the rest was apparent right from the start. We were greeted by name and immediately felt welcome.
The Rooms and Space
We had a chance to see all of the rooms and each was pleasantly welcoming. Our room was great for us as a couple and would also make a wonderful family room. Everything was sparkling clean. Fluffy pillows, soft, clean feeling sheets, blankets and nice touches like having a bathmat. (Which is a small luxury that not every place bothers to provide.) The shower had strong pressure and was hot.
The dorm rooms were nice and spacious and had en-suite bathrooms.
This was one of the bigger suites upstairs.
Commitment to Environment
Laura, Allen and Chris were all able to say with pride they have invested both in their business and the environment. All the products used in the facility are organic and biodegradable. The dish soap, cleaning products and all the detergents for the washing machine were all eco-friendly.
They also choose to make the investment in solar hot water, a move not many businesses can claim they have done in San Jose. At a quick glance around it’s easy to tell of the recent renovations. They also took the care to ensure all the wiring and electric was the most up to date and efficient it could be. More and more travelers are seeking to support eco-friendly businesses and this is an example why.
Location
One thing Hotel Roble Urbano has going for it is location. I would say any travelers without a lot of time and looking for a convenient place to stay for transportation would be very happy in their selection to come here.
We flew into San Jose airport and took the Tuasa bus from the airport for about $1 usd. It took about 25 minutes to get to San Jose.
Then it was about seven block walk to the hotel and took us about 12 minutes to walk to.
One of the cities main bus stations, Tracopa bus station is about 700 meters away. We used Uber to quickly get to the terminal MEPE bus station and be on our way. It just doesn’t get easier than this.
There are lots of shops, restaurants and grocery stores within a few blocks providing plenty of options to get snacks for the road!
If you have more time then stay a while – they also offer long term stays.
People often comment or ask questions about what one of the best parts of travel is? It ultimately comes down to meeting hardworking, kind and nice people wherever we go. Whether we’re hiking a mountain, trekking off into the forest or enjoying food, it’s the people that make it all possible. Travel opens doors for us to see the world in different ways, have unique experiences and meet amazing people. For us this was where to stay in San Jose Costa Rica. At Hotel Roble Urbano they are literally ready to open the door for you and welcome you.
