Summer Time in Vermont Moving Along

Hello from Vermont! Boy are we happy to be in Vermont. The state parks are open and among a lot of additional safety and cleaning procedures, we are welcoming people through our gates.

Our new park this year is Camp Plymouth State Park! Ths is one of the busier parks and we are pumped to be more in the middle of the state. Now we can be closer to everyone up in northern VT and southern VT too.

Speaking of southern Vermont - after being on a waiting list for two years you can see our work on display at the Cromwell Gallery in Newfane, VT!

I loved to see this experience go from blank walls to gallery display.

I wore my Carhart pants and was definitely using the hammer holder that day. I also did math and had the ruler out to make measurements and keep the display all in line.

With the exception of one photo from the Ball Mountain Dam Recreation area, this whole presentation features two of our beloved parks: Seyon and Townshend.

There has also been a lot of news and updates about Vermont State Parks opening this summer. Here in the park we were part of an interview with VPR (Vermont Public Radio) and you can check that out here. Howard, the reporter, was very excited to get the clip of Tiff putting in the hand sani.

A note on how to best enjoy Vermont State Parks this season. This is the year of #bringyourownchair and picnic blankets are back in style! There are so many cute ones to choose from. There are picnic blankets at campsites, but not in day use areas.

A lot of people are looking to get into camping more this season. It's cheaper, it's local and by default you are outside in the open air usually in your own site. We wrote out a lot of our favorite camping gear items here.

Also - with how everything has gone this year - there are still some openings in the parks! I wrote this post talking about working in the parks. If you know people that live near parks, there is a handful of positions still around the state!

Like so many of us right now, we will just see how things go. We try to make the best of each day and control what we can control. Keep things in order, don't waste food and show a little extra kindness to everyone around.

What have you been up to? Is anyone going on trips this summer? Staying close to home? How have you been doing durining these covid times?
